Taking boudoir photos can be a bit nerve-racking. It’s a very vulnerable kind of portrait session, and you’ve got a bunch of questions.
What should I wear? Where do I find things to fit me? How do I pose? What can I do to make sure my boudoir photos turn out amazing?
I get it! It takes a LOT to build yourself up to the point where you actually book a session, then walk through my studio door. But YOU CAN DO THIS. You were made to do hard things. Because you’re badass like that. (And don’t let anyone tell you you’re not.)
And all those questions you have about boudoir photos? I can answer all of them.
I’ve got you covered on all things!
What should I wear for my boudoir session? Where do I find things that fit me?
After booking, I send my What to Wear Guide and my Boudoir Session Prep Guide. I send size inclusive shopping links and tell you what types of lingerie to look for! My Amazon List has over 265 items on it.
I also have a Client Closet with items that go all the way up to a 4x. Prior to your session, I’ll send you a questionnaire to ask about your normal sizes in things, your personal style, and your favorite colors so I can pull a few pieces that I think you might like.
On the day of the session, we’ll go through everything you brought, and I’ll help you select which looks we’ll photograph.
How do I pose?
Before we even start shooting, I’ll give you my posing spiel rundown. When we start shooting, I’ll demonstrate each pose for you and guide you through EVERYTHING. You’ll always know EXACTLY what to do with every part of your body from your head to your toes (point them, always point them).
The best tip I can give clients for amazing boudoir photos is to just let go.
Yep. It’s that simple. Just let go! Get into it and feel yourself. Be present in the moment. Focus on your breathing. Think positive thoughts and repeat words of affirmation to yourself.
“My body is beautiful. It is capable and allows me to live my life. I am allowed to take up space. I am sexy and strong.”
And you know what? I promise you, the more you get into it, the better your boudoir photos will be. And when you see your photos, you’ll remember how much of a badass babe you feeling like during your boudoir session, and that confidence will come flooding back to you.
Boudoir sessions are such a powerful, positive experience.
Mama to Gigi. Cat person. Feminist. Houseplant collector. Metal head. Avid life-long thrifter. I dislike pants and Diet Culture. I believe that Love is Love and Black Lives Matter. I’m an OG weird kid with a pretty good sense of humor. I’ve always been whatever the opposite of cool is, and not in the way that not cool is cool now. But I think when I’m 80 it’ll work in my favor and I’ll be like, super badass. I really don’t follow trends and I don’t do slang or buzz words. I just say fuck a lot instead. Fuck is timeless. It never goes out of style. Kind of like a good black and white photo.
